As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be working to influence propulsion design and scale our technology. This role will focus on machining, leveraging your experience to improve our processes, improve designs, and best utilize our industry-leading machining technology. You will be tightly integrated with machinists, design engineers, and quality, owning manufacturability and machinability of products and improvement of processes. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is a must. A strong desire for collaboration and change are also required, as this role will be fundamental in accelerating our development and successfully scaling machining into production.
Responsibilities:
- Consult on designs to implement DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) principles, targeting producibility, cost, and efficiency improvements
- Own the implementation of changes, including design updates as required
- Identify inefficiencies and enthusiastically implement improvements to drive up throughput and utilization
- Implement process standards, including revision controls, work instructions, PM schedules, and standard operating procedures for the machine shop
- Support machinist in solving challenges and clearing barriers to success; contribute to a strong team atmosphere and cohesion in the machine shop
- Perform CAD/CAM programming and machining on CNC and manual equipment
- Design and produce tools and fixtures for machining
- Work collaboratively with design engineering and quality assurance to reduce or eliminate machining nonconformances
- Work many project simultaneously, balancing tactical and strategic
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years in a hardware-focused environment
- Hands-on experience with 5-axis machining and turning
- Deep understanding of machining principles and GD&T
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and lead by influence
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelors of Engineering or Science
- Lean manufacturing and/or six sigma experience
- Experience in transitioning hardware from development to production
- Experience in aerospace, particularly with propulsion
- Experience in AS9100 or similarly regulated environment
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $95,000- $125,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
